A Provincetown Summer: Sun, Storms, and Spiritus Pizza
There is a very specific kind of magic that happens when you gather a great crowd of friends at the very tip of the Cape. Provincetown has this undeniable, electric energy—a beautiful collision of historic New England coastal charm, unapologetic self-expression, and a deep, welcoming sense of community. It’s a place where you can truly just be. Leaving the quiet of our home in Maine for that vibrant, pulsating life is a transition Mark and I always look forward to, and this trip delivered the exact mix of chaotic fun and connection we all needed.
The first half of the week was an absolute blur of beach days and pool parties. The summer heat was intense—the kind of sweltering, heavy humidity that makes you endlessly grateful for a cold shower and a good Malin+Goetz moisturizer to revive your skin at the end of the day. If I’m being completely honest, that heat, paired with some enthusiastically misguided daytime drinking, meant we definitely slept through and missed a few of our planned events. But that’s part of the P-Town magic, too: the best parts of a vacation are often the unplanned detours and the grace of just letting the day take you where it wants to go.
Those detours almost always ended with late-night recovery slices at Spiritus Pizza, which quickly became our non-negotiable nightly ritual. There’s nothing quite like standing outside on Commercial Street with a slice in hand, cooling off in the night air while laughing, people-watching, and recapping the night's antics with friends.
When we actually managed to stay on schedule, we made sure to hit Afternoon Tea at the Boatslip, taking in the water views and the classic crowd. But the undisputed highlight of the week was the Crown & Anchor. Now owned by Tryst, it’s where we honestly ended up spending the majority of our time. The energy in that space right now is completely unmatched, peaking with an absolutely epic Sunday evening dance party. I will say, navigating a packed, surging dance floor when you're 5'2" is always a bit of an extreme sport, but it was worth every second. It was the perfect environment to mingle, catch up with our broader circle of friends, and cross paths with a few fellow influencers along the way.
Of course, it wouldn't be a true New England coastal trip without a sudden, dramatic shift in the weather. Our last two days were met with a driving rain and wild wind whipping off the harbor. It forced us to scrap our outdoor plans and keep things minimal, but it was actually the perfect excuse to slow down. We grabbed our umbrellas and spent the afternoons ducking in and out of the shops up and down Commercial Street, finding a few local gems without the usual blazing sun beating down on us.
Looking back, we are so appreciative of the time spent and the memories made with this crew. But for now, the pace is changing. We are trading the sand for the trees and the dance floors for the dirt. For the next few weeks, we are shifting gears and focusing on setting up camp at Twin Ponds Lodge—embracing some quiet time and nature before we pack up and head back to the magic of PTown to do it all over again for Carnival in August.
